Ergotherapist sessions

Ergotherapist sessions - this session is aimed at developing skills necessary for a child's independent daily life. At MCRN, we assist children with developmental delays, neurological disorders, or special needs in learning how to manage everyday, social, and educational tasks so that they can take care of themselves independently.

An ergotherapist supports the child in forming motor, cognitive, and social skills necessary for harmonious development using a play-based approach and specialized techniques tailored to the child’s needs.

Recommendations for ergotherapy sessions:
-Cerebral palsy (CP);
-Consequences of central nervous system injuries or illnesses;
-Motor skill disorders (fine and gross motor skills);
-Psychomotor development delay;
-Difficulties with self-care skills (washing, dressing, feeding);
-Learning difficulties, including writing and reading;
-Issues with social interactions with peers or adults;
-Development of fine motor skills, movement coordination;
-Stimulation of independence in everyday tasks.

What are the benefits of ergotherapy for children?
-Development of fine and gross motor skills;
-Learning self-care skills (using utensils, buttoning clothes, tying shoelaces);
-Improvement of sensory integration (perception and processing of sensory information);
-Increasing independence in daily life;
-Harmonizing emotional state and boosting confidence in their abilities;

How does a session go?
1.Child’s condition assessment: The ergotherapist analyzes the child's skills and identifies areas that need development;
2.Individual program: A session plan is developed based on the child’s specific characteristics and needs;
3.Practical tasks: Performing exercises for motor skills development, learning daily tasks (holding a spoon, using clothing, etc.), play tasks to develop coordination and social skills;
4.Recommendations: After the session, parents receive advice on exercises to be done at home;

Contraindications:
-Acute infectious diseases, high fever;
-Severe emotional state of the child;
-Unhealed injuries that restrict physical activity;

Our ergotherapists take into account the needs and capabilities of each child. Sessions are conducted in an engaging form to motivate the child to participate. MCRN specialists work on the physical, emotional, and social aspects of development at the Center, as well as provide recommendations for home.
